Sleep is most important in preventing pain with fibromyalgia. I have had fibromyalgia for several years and the sleeping potient I prefer is Ambien because it isn't habit forming. I also rub on something like Flexal-454 to keep down the pain so I can sleep all night. Going to bed each night at the same time and taking a hot shower for about 20 minutes long helps releive pain and relax so you can sleep too. Follow your doctor's suggestions. He sounds on the right track. Also join a fibromyalgia support group so you can find out about more resources in your community. The Arthritis Foundation can put you in touch with a local fibromyalgia support group. They also have excellent reading materials on fibromyalgia so you will be able to take control of your life with your doctor as your ally. No doctor can help you with fibromyalgia except to put you out with pain killers if you won't take responsibility for your care.
