Barbara: Just read your message regarding Fibromyalgia. I too diagnosed myself after the doctors searched and searched for what was wrong with me, and a rheumatologist confirmed that I had FM. I had been on Ultram for the past year for a bad back, and I noticed when I tried to get off of it I felt so bad I could not function, so kept taking Ultram. It was the only way I could function. I was taking 100mg-400mg a day. I was afraid I was addicted, but the dr. assured me it was not a narcotic. When I was diagnosed a few weeks ago my doctor immediately took me off Ultram, cold turkey, and I don't care what they say...I went through a horrible withdrawal process over this past Easter weekend! He put me on Doxepin 10mg at nite. I did not see how I could survive it. I take the Doxepin at night, an anti-inflammatory in the morning, and two Tylenol twice a day. I am having my good days and not-so-good days .. and I miss my Ultram!!! But I am glad I was able to get off of it and if I am put on another pain reliever I will know only to take it when necessary. Good luck.
