Hi-Since the last posting we have taken our son to Cleveland Clinic, they confirmed the diagnosis of Costo. They prescribed a regieme of several meds-a muscle relaxer, Oxycontin(a very strong pain killer,) Paxil usually given for panic attacks, for our son they also ordered Zanax both of these were given for"break-thru pain" which actually gave him his first relief since this had started 5months prior to this time. After coming home he stayed on all meds approx.3 weeks(yes,he slept alot) but then we very slowly started to decrease dosages(with drs.orders)and we would stop at that level-until pain-free then start again. This process took approx. 6 weeks. He just went off all meds this week and so far with Gods help he has been doing very well. I forgot to tell you they also put him on Vioxx which he couldn't tolerate so they switched to Celebrex 200mgm daily which he will stay on(it is an anti-inflammatory. Having been through this horrific disease I can truly sympathize with you-our son was the most sever case the Doctors had seen. To date he has no pain but we were told that it can come back butat least now we know what worked this time. I would be interested in knoing how you are doing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
