I feel your pain and know exactly what you're talking about. I was on disability for 6 months for herniated discs in my neck, and now I can no longer take an office job where I'm sitting down at a computer all day. I've been having pain for 20 years now; and it was only 3 years ago that I found out through an MRI about the herniated discs (after going to a chiropractor for 17 of those years). Anyway, the doctors REFUSE to do surgery on my neck because some say there's a 50/50 chance it will work, and the neck is very delicate because it's so close to the top of the spine. I also found out years ago that I have a "straight" neck (lieutenant's neck they call it) and have no idea why (possible injury as a child, I guess). Now, my 12 year old daughter is in severe neck/head pain. She was diagnosed yesterday with a "straight neck" and "whiplash". Now she's on muscle relaxers and pain/inflamation meds and is wearing a cervical collar. I don't think she's had any major accidents in the past few weeks; but she has been complaining of her neck hurting a little from time to time. My goodness....now I'm wondering...is THIS hereditary?? Good grief. If anyone has a clue, please let me know!
