Herniated discs normally occur in the cervical (neck) area and in the lumbar region. I think this is also called spondylosis and when it occurs the nerves radiating from between two discs are compressed or pinched. This gives the intense pain in the right shoulder or the right leg or in the lower back area. I had this a few months ago and my neurologist recommended traction - either cervical or lumbar. The discs in my cervical area were badly affected and I stayed in the hospital for almost a month but I got well as soon as I was put in rehab. In fact, immediately after I had the rehab treatment plus some medicine for pain. I recommend seeing a neurologist or a rehab doctor.
