Many have been helped by melatonin -and many have not. It's OTC and worth a try. Start with a very low dose(say .5 mg-cut a 1 mg tablet in half) and gradually work up as needed. Maximum dose shouldn't be more than 3 mg.Take it about half to one hour before you want to fall asleep. Some find it leaves them with a hangover but perhaps they used too high a dose. Depressives are sometimes made more depressed by it and manics may be helped by it. I assume you 're neither. Another helpful OTC product is Valerian Root-check the bottle for dosage.
