I don't know what kind of doctor you've been to visit but no conscientious physician writes prescriptions indiscriminately. A good doctor is careful, selective and frugal when it comes to medication- especially pain meds that can become addicitve when not used or prescribed properly. I am happy that you have found relief with a chiropractor but they are not for everyone. I like the fact that in this country, we as patients, can choose from a variety of healing methods; anything from mainstream medicine to non- traditional. Alternatives such as reiki, herbal therapy, meditation, dietary changes, yoga- you name it it is out there. If you ever seek help from a doctor and all they do is throw prescriptions at you- run and find another doctor, there are plenty of others around. But do keep in mind there are thousands of medicines on the market that have been developed to help people lead more comfortable and active lives. I for one am grateful that I do not have to live in a world where medicines are unavailable and people suffer needlessly because of that.
