I had my GB removed 4 years ago today. It had ruptured and they found over 100 gall stones. One week to the day, the pain came back. My doctor told me to go to the ER. They did a bunch of test and they all came back fine. It was strange, coz after being there a few hours, the pain just went away as fast as it came. Then another week to the day, the pain returned with a vengeance. I went back to the ER and this time they found 2 gall stones in my bile duct. The pain was 10 times worse then it was when I had the GB removed. They did an upper GI and cut my bile duct to allow the stones to pass. I still feel a sudden pain just like I had once in a while, but it goes away in a few min. I don't know if that could mean one dident pass or not. My doctor later told me that gall stones can stay in the bile duct for years before they cause any real pain. Its when they get stuck towards the opening, that the real pain comes and stays. If they do blood work then, it will show your liver is not working properly and they can tell it is more then likely a gall stone. But if you get the blood work done when it is not completely stuck, cousing the liver to show something is not right, it can be missed by doctor's. All I know, is the pain is out of this world. I hope I never feel anything like that ever again. Labor after that is a walk through the park...LOL
