I helped my 88-yr. old uncle get better vision using Lasik and all went perfectly well, as seems to be the case with others I've read about. However, it seems the doctors never tell you that while it gives you perfect, or near-perfect vision at far distances (!0' and beyond, or so), the new lens they give you is not attachable to the old muscles that used to make your original lens thinner or thicker for different distances - thereby requiring that you may still need to put on "reading glasses" for near vision, after the Lasik surgery! Ask about this, and ask yourself if it isn't still worthwhile! It was for my uncle! Good luck!
