My brother had something like that. ....they first treated him with heprin (sp?)....also put in a sort of 'filter' to block any clot from going to the heart or lungs. After that, they put him on Cumadin, a blood thinner...needs to be adjusted (the strength) to each patient. I'm told that the calves of the legs are known as the 'second heart' because blood 'pools' there. The Dr told him to 'wiggle' his ankles, also take his feet and 'stretch' them forward as far as he can, then 'pull them back' as far as he can. The idea is to keep the blood moving. Do this all of the time when sitting or laying down, and KEEP THE LEGS UNCROSSED! The Dr. would be a cardiologist....specialist of the veins and arteries and heart. If the lungs are involved, I think it is a pulmanary (sp?) specialist. Call the FINEST hospital in your city, and ask them for a referral from their hospital or 'who has Dr. priveledges there' if they say they can't 'give a referral. Blockage can be serious, so get to it. God bless you!
