My daughter had the same thing 20 years ago and the doctors didn't take it seriously until I took her to the ER with seizures. The doctor who was examining her began to release us to go home...no diagnosis...then a pediactric doctor who specialized in caring for special needs children stepped up and demanded she be admitted for a sleep study. This showed that she had "apnea". The X-ray showed her tonsils and adenoids were almost totally blocking her windpipe when she layed down. They were removed and she never had that problem again. I wouldn't take your doctor's diagnosis seriously. I wish you the best of luck.
