Tracey, I also have been diagnosed with a chiari malformation, i had never heard of it before now. I have experienced severe pressure headaches when I laugh, cough, sneeze, any type of straining, put me in misery, and my neck would also get very stiff that i could not turn my head. After a cat scan and 2 MRI's, the malformation was detected. My neurologist said i had a hernaited disc in my neck and my neurosurgeon stated the malformation as giving me all the problems. I went for a second opinion and the results was the same. I also had to see an eye doctor which specializes in neurology, to see if there was any damage to my optic nerves. I honestly believe that symthoms were present all along and just went un-diagnoised. I have always had headaches, and the past year and a half they have been severe.
