I've had a history of back and neck pain associated with ankylosing spondylitis. Most recently I went through 3 months of sleeplessness. Much of what is common in our American diets triggers inflammation of tissues in the joints. Your doctor may tell you it's voodoo, but I'll tell you this: eating brown rice and beans a couple times of day with some fruits and vegetables mixed in is far, far easier than dealing with the pain and the side effects of the prescribed pain medicine. Do I miss the dairy, meat, beer, and desserts? Not nearly as much as I enjoy playing golf, x-country skiing, and other activities that I've re-introduced since starting this regimen. I wish you the best.
