Dear person, i have suffered from neck pain and migraines for many years, but had no surgery. After many years of dealing with just motrin or muscle relaxers, I insisted on an MRI, which showed cervical problems that cause pressure on the spinal cord and nerve, not severe enough for surgery, but causes me great discomfort, pain sometimes burns down my arm and my left index finger is numb. I have problems at C4,5,6,and 7. I also suggest acupuncture, acupressure, massage, physical therapy such as moist heat, etc. find a good physical therapy clinic. surgery should be the very LAST RESORT. also naturopathy may have some hope for you too, in the way of herbals and supplements. A chinese herb called corydalis is good for pain with very little, if any side effects. it needs a guiding herb with it. a formula is available from Lotus Herbs. or go to an acupuncture clinic to get the herbal capsules. as far as I know, Lotus Herbs is the only place I found to get the formula called Corydalin. I am in my first year studying Traditional Chinese Medicine, and also have dealt with severe neck pain for years. I am trying for disability. the migraines are awful and when the neck acts up, forget even moving around. when I am incapacitated, I lay in bed, and if able, get in a nice warm bath with epsom's salts and aromatherapy--I like lavender with chamomile and valerian, its soothing. Chiropractors usually always made me worse. 3 nerve root injections did nothing. the doc told me that this condition is like lightning, you dont know when it will hit, but you sure know it when it does. so I have good days and bad days. I get migraines also. Hope you find some relief. take care..........
