Hi, don't know if you're still checking this forum, but thought I'd take a chance. My son is 12, and we didn't find out till a few months ago, that he has a mild acm and a syrinx in the thoracic spine. Since infancy though, he had 2 sets of tubes (they wanted to do 3, but I said no and was able to clear the ears with a solution they gave). Finally when I took him to a different doctor, he cultured the ear, found the right antibiotic and we never had trouble again, except for the perforation that remained, and after 2 years of no infections it was repaired surgically and thank God it's seems fine. In answer to your question re drainage, yes, he has alot, but it's not infected. I too have wondered about the amount. I have also noted that when the repaired the perforation, he had excessive "oozing and bleeding", as well as when he had a couple of other surgeries like hernia repair, they also noted "excessive bleeding", so I am in the process of researching to see if the chiari or possibly if there is some type of fluid collection in the head, if these can be the cause of so much drainage. I was surprised to see your post as I didn't think anyone else thought the way I did. Feel free to email me. Susan
