I am 52 and a breast cancer survivor (5 years) and in menopause (5 years). I had 2 bone density tests and found I had ostioporosis in my hips. Fosamax was prescribed. You must take the medication after you rise in the mornings and not lie down for 30 minutes I believe after taking. I had a cough develop from the medication...cronic cough. Although Fosamax is labeled a miracle drug for ostioporosis--and actually reverses the results--I found I had to stop taking it and now I take calcium daily with other prescribed vitamins/minerals. If you can take it--I would. I believe it can reverse and prevent brittle/broken bones. I am 52 and active--love to swing dance and high aerobic dancing--which the doctors say is wonderful for me. Good luck...I hope you can tolerate the medication.... Joan
