Hi, A little over a year ago I began experiencing pain everyday...very unusual pain for no apparent reason. My concern led me to an MD. who immediately prescribed strong meds for me to take....they didn't work completely and along with the pain was my inability to sleep well, so again, medication for me to sleep was given, still not very good results. To make a long story short, I do not like taking medications, as I feel it only covers what is really wrong. All tests showed nothing was wrong. So, fibromyalgia was suggested, and later confirmed by a rheumatologist, who again only prescribed medications and told me to condition my body. Disgusted by not getting results, I went to a self help course offered by the local hospital to gain an understanding of Fibro...Someone mentioned neuromuscular massage was helpful, and some said it wasn't!! I tried it hesitantly but was frantic from 3 months of pain everyday. My first massage, I left the office feeling like I had never felt before. A little sore at first from all the probing. The next day I woke up and felt strange that I had no pain at all! I have been going every 2 weeks for over a year. Costly, cause insurance doesn't pay. But that, combined with supplements that I read about, Malic Acid and Magnesium which are beneficial to muscles. Pain is minimal, but I do have flare ups at times but nothing like I had. Plus I sleep very well now. I try to get 9-10 hours of sleep and also started using a Sobakawa pillow.(notice that when less sleep is when the flareups occur) I have tried to go 3 or more weeks without the massage and it seems like the effects of the massage wear off after 2 weeks. Would like to hear what other techniques people are trying. Don't know what to do about the fibro-fog...though???? Sherri
