I had surgery on March 6th. I had C4-C5 discectomy with fusion. The surgery was done with a piece of bone from a cadaver vs. my own from my hip. I have had positive results. I have seen many cases on Healthlink where people who have had used their own bone had severe pain in their hip from the bone graft. My fusion was secured with a titanium plate which I would also recommend. As well I have seen many cases where the fusion wasn't secured and it had to be redone. I would also recommend that you see a neurosurgeon vs. an orthopedic surgeon. I sure hope that this info is helpful. I must also note that everyone is different and have different reactions to different things so do your research and do what you feel is best for you. Get as many opinions as you feel necessary to get satisfaction.
