pam--you might want to consider going to an internal medicine specialist to give you a second opinion on your dvt. while it may not seem like a serious problem when it's not hurting or when the swelling is down, it's important to remember that it could potentially be serious if it is not treated by an informed & sensitive doctor. your body may well be telling you something that your doctor is not willing to pay attention to. my father's doctor didn't diagnose or treat his dvt correctly for a year & that had the serious consequence of making his condition even worse. now he's taking cumadin daily & his leg continues to worsen because he's standing for the majority of the day at work. please do seek a second opinion of a specialist. wishing you the best, helen
