My son's tonsils were enormous. On a scale of 1-4, his ENT called them a 4+. His pediatrician thought they were fine because they didn't make him sick. I insisted on being referred to an ENT because his breathing, sleep and speech were affected. He also snored terribly. At age 5 he had them removed along with his adenoids. The snoring stopped that night, and I never have to check while he's sleeping to make sure his breathing hasn't stopped momentarily. His speech is much better too. Three and a half years later I am very glad that the ENT removed them.
